Mind in Bradford launch Winter Appeal
We have launched a Winter Appeal in response to the long-term impact the pandemic is having on mental health, which will only be amplified during the winter months.
Winter can be a difficult time of year for many of us. Feelings of loneliness and social isolation are amplified, and finances are often stretched around the Christmas period.
This year perhaps more than others, many people will also be struggling with bereavement and loss. Some of us may be facing winter unemployed, for others this may be the first Christmas without a loved one. The impact of the pandemic on our mental health will be felt more than ever.
That’s why we are appealing to our supporters to help us be there for Bradford this winter. People can support the appeal in one of three ways:
- Help decorate our Christmas tree: dedicate a donation to a friend, family member, colleague or neighbour, add a message of hope to our tree and know that you’ll be supporting someone who is struggling with their mental health this winter. Local businesses also have the option to sponsor a bauble, showing their commitment to better mental health in our local communities.
- Move for Mind: take part in our winter fundraiser by setting yourself a 30 day exercise and fundraising goal. You can dance, swim, walk, skip – so long as you’re moving and having fun, it counts!
- Double your donation by supporting our crowdfunder: donate to our crowdfunder between 17 November and 17 December and your donation (up to the value of £250) will be matched, doubling the positive difference you can make in your community.
We will also be sharing winter wellbeing tips on our social media channels over the coming months to help our supporters improve and maintain their mental health during the winter period.
