About Malham Cove and Goredale Scar hike

Take part in an adventurous, guided hike through some of Yorkshire’s most admired landscapes fully guided and protected by professional instructors.

The 10km loop starts and finishes in the beautiful village of Malham. We’ll kick things off wandering through green woodland to Janet’s Foss, a fairy-tale waterfall that feels straight out of a storybook.

Then it’s into the wild heart of Gordale Scar, formed over successive ice ages by glacial meltwater carving it deeper and deeper into the hillside.

After a short and exhilarating scramble beside two thundering waterfalls we’ll break out onto the scar. We’ll hike around Malham Tarn, then make our way to the top of Malham Cove for sweeping views across the Dales. Here we’ll cross the famous limestone pavement, the stuff of adventure films, before descending back into Malham for a well-earned rest and big smiles all around.

Did you know Malham has been used by several well known films and TV series? Including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1), Wuthering Heights (2011) and The Witcher!
