Community Companions is looking for volunteers to support our befriending service.
What is Community Companions?
Community Companions is a befriending service for anyone aged 18 and over that is experiencing loneliness, social isolation or mental health issues.
Once we’ve received your referral you’ll be matched with a Community Companion volunteer based on your likes, interests and preferences.
Your volunteer will meet with you for up to one hour every week for up to three months and gently encourage you to get out into the community.
How can a Community Companion support me?
They will help build your confidence and encourage you to access to local community groups, activities and services that help with your mental health and wellbeing.

How soon will the support begin?
Community Companions does have a waiting list. As volunteers become available we will match you with a volunteer based on your needs and preferences, then your support will begin. All matches through Community Companions last up to three months. After that we encourage you to access our other services such as Tea ‘n’ Talk Groups.
I cannot leave my home, can I still access the service?
Home visits are now available for anyone who is unable to access the community, due to mental health or mobility issues.
Can I have support in my native language?
We have Community Companion volunteers that speak Punjabi and Urdu. Other languages may be available dependent on the volunteers we have available. Please contact us before you submit your referral application so we can check:
