New crisis outreach support for children, young people and families

Safe Spaces is crisis support service led by The Cellar Trust and Bradford District and Craven Mind alongside a partnership of local mental health service providers:

Brathay, SELFA, Project 6, Missing Peace, Pioneer Projects, Girlington Community Centre, Khidmat Community Centre, BYO and Touchstone.

Life isn’t always easy for children, young people or the adults who care for them.

Big feelings can feel overwhelming when you don’t know where to turn. Whether you’re a young person trying to understand what’s going on inside your head, a parent worried about your child or a carer supporting someone through a rough patch, you’re not alone – and now, support is closer than ever.

Introducing Safe Spaces’ new crisis outreach support

Launching May 2025, Safe Spaces is bringing crisis support directly to you, wherever you feel safest. This means free, urgent support for all ages, making the service more flexible and accessible to all.

This means if you or someone you care about is struggling, we can now reach you in a place that feels familiar and comfortable including:

  • Your home
  • Your school or college
  • A family hub or community venue

And if you’d prefer to come to us, that’s fine too. You can still access same-day 1:1 appointments at our Bradford and Keighley hubs.

We’re open every day of the year from 1pm–7pm.

What can Safe Spaces support you with?

Our team supports people with a range of issues, including:

  • Overwhelming anxiety or fear
  • Panic attacks or feeling out of control
  • Thoughts of suicide or self-harm
  • Deep sadness or hopelessness
  • Feeling numb or disconnected from yourself or the world

How to get support

When a young person is in crisis, it can affect the whole family. We understand how hard that can be. Our outreach support is trauma-informed, non-judgemental and tailored to the age and needs of each person we work with.

If you or someone you know needs support:
We accept both self-referrals and professional referrals for hub and outreach support.

You can call one of our helplines and ask for Safe Spaces:

First Response: 0800 952 1181
(Available 24 hours a day)

Guide-Line: 08001 884 884

Whether it’s you, your child or someone you care for – help is available when and where you need it most.
