Meet our Trustee, Yasmin
Bradford District and Craven Mind is run by a dedicated group of volunteer trustees who guide the charity’s direction and make sure the management team stay on track.
We spoke to Yasmin about why she decided to volunteer as a trustee with BDC Mind.

Hello, I’m Yasmin, and I’m proud to serve as one of the trustees for Bradford District and Craven Mind. I was drawn to this role for many reasons, but most importantly because BDC Mind supported me when my mental health was at its worst. As a Bradford resident and NHS professional, I’ve seen firsthand how challenging it can be for people to access timely and appropriate mental health services.
Discovering that I wasn’t alone and there were people who genuinely wanted to help me was a huge relief.
At the time, I was too afraid to speak openly about how I was feeling, so being able to access information and support was incredibly reassuring. Now, in my professional role, I have oversight of NHS mental health service provision, and I see the remarkable impact that Bradford District and Craven Mind has on our local communities. Being a trustee and playing even a small part in supporting this work is a real privilege. The dedication and compassion shown by the staff and volunteers is inspiring, and I’m passionate about celebrating their efforts and helping to expand our reach.
I’m especially committed to ensuring that our services reflect the needs of our wonderfully diverse communities, providing support that is both accessible and culturally appropriate.
It’s been a joy to work alongside a team that truly understands the importance of diversity and inclusion in mental health care. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of an amazing group of people who are driving meaningful, positive change for our community.
