Community Companions now help over-18s

The referral age for Community Companions has been lowered to 18+.

The befriending service, which helps people who feel lonely and depressed, was launched in 2019 for people aged 65+. In July 2020, the service was extended to those aged 55 and over, and now, those aged 18 or over will now be able to access it.

Community Companions are trained volunteers who visit or telephone people to support their mental wellbeing and help them access local services. It’s run by Mind in Bradford in partnership with Bradford Districts CCG.

To find out more about the referral process and which areas are covered, go to our Community Companions page. Information on volunteering to become a befriender can be found here.
